01 / Background
From a cat's chase to cat food
This is an early commercial visual exercise built around Legend Sandy Pigeon Cat Food, practicing how a pet commercial can move naturally from a short animal story to the product in very little time. The idea starts from a cat's chasing instinct: locking onto prey, gathering itself, leaping and searching all around. This chain of actions sets up the cat food's entrance.
The original script broke about 15 seconds into seven shots; the final film runs about 24 seconds, leaving more time for the cat's movements and the packaging reveal. The whole film takes place in one forest: the first half is the cat and the bird, the second half the bowl and the packaging, as the cat keeps searching and finally sits down to eat.
02 / Creative Highlights
How to bring cat food into a forest story
01
Eyes and front paws gather force for the leap
The cat creeps low, a pigeon enters the frame, then come close-ups of blue eyes and front paws, and only then the leap and landing. Filming the gaze, body and action separately lets viewers read the cat observing, preparing and striking, giving the chase in the first half a clear motive.
02
The cat keeps searching as the packaging emerges from soft focus
As the cat moves on through the trees, foreground grass and a blurred product shot come into view, and the packaging and bowl gradually sharpen. The product sits in the same moss, ferns and dappled sunlight, so the commercial message fits naturally into the original forest scene.
03
Eating and paw-licking close the chase
The cat approaches the bowl, lowers its head to eat, and finally sits beside the packaging licking its paw. After such an intense chase, things slow down here: found it, ate it, satisfied. The packaging stays in frame throughout.

The cat's whole body leaps into the shaft of light; when it lands, the pigeon is gone, and it can only lower its head and sniff around in the grass.
Film · 00:10–00:17
Chasing all the way, until it finds the cat food
The cat walks through the grass toward the camera, with the caption “Chasing all the way, always just missing”; the camera moves past the foreground grass as the blurred packaging and a bowl of cat food slowly come into focus.
Clip · 00:10–00:13
Through the grass, still searching
The cat turns from profile to face the camera, grass brushing past in the foreground and warm light resting on its markings and eyes.

The cat glances up at the camera, then circles around to the bowl and starts eating, as the product name “Legend Sandy Bird Hunter Pigeon Cat Food” appears at the bottom of the screen.
Clip · 00:20–00:23
Licking its paw beside the packaging
The cat sits on the moss licking a front paw, the packaging standing to the right and the same sunlit forest behind. After the long chase, everything grows quiet.

We completed a pet food commercial exercise of about 24 seconds in 16:9, with 7 shots in the script and 9 in the final film, locked on April 13, 2026. It was not commissioned by the brand; it shows pet food and pet supply brands what we can make in this kind of commercial.
Case Study
Liandan AI Studio Visual Exercise | A cat misses its pounce, then finds cat food behind the grass
The most common way to shoot a cat food commercial is a cat eating, followed by a close-up of the packaging.
For this exercise we tried a different opening: first the cat chases a pigeon in a forest, misses, and keeps searching.
This is a pet food commercial exercise by Liandan AI Studio, built around Legend Sandy Pigeon Cat Food and made with AI as a short film of about 24 seconds in 16:9. It was not commissioned by the brand; the aim was to give pet brands a sample: we can make this kind of commercial, and this is what it looks like.

Why start a “Bird Hunter” cat food ad with a missed pounce?
This cat food is called “Bird Hunter Pigeon,” and its packaging shows a bird with outstretched wings. Those words reminded us of a cat's instinct: see a bird, and pounce.
So the script followed a simple path: lock onto the prey, pounce, miss, keep searching, find the cat food, eat its fill.
The miss is the key moment. The cat never catches the pigeon in the woods, but behind the grass it finds a bowl of pigeon cat food. That gives the tagline “satisfies instinct” something to land on in the picture.

02
First, make the cat look like a hunter
The first half has to convince viewers that this cat is really hunting. We broke a single pounce into several shots: first an extreme close-up of blue eyes with slit pupils; then the camera drops to paw level as the front paws touch down on the moss one by one; and only then the whole body leaping into the air.
Reviewing the first cut, two shots in the chase lacked impact. We remade them from new camera angles, giving the cat's pounce more force and tightening the pace.

Lock on, gather, miss
An eye close-up, paws touching down, the leap, and sniffing after the landing: several short shots cut together into one complete pounce.
03
Placing the cat food in the same forest
The easiest place for a commercial to break is when the story ends and it suddenly cuts to a product shot on a white background.
We placed the packaging and bowl right on the forest grass, still surrounded by moss, ferns and slanting sunlight. The camera first shows out-of-focus grass, then slowly focuses on the packaging, as if the cat has searched its way here and finally spotted it.
The light across shots also has to match. The background of the pigeon image was changed to the same forest as the stalking shot, so from start to finish the film feels like one afternoon in one patch of woods.

One line fewer at the end, a cleaner picture
In the script, the eating shot originally carried a line about ingredients. When locking the cut we removed it, leaving the ending with just the cat, the packaging and one line: “Satisfies instinct, and nourishes too.”
Having eaten its fill, the cat sits down to lick its paw; after such an intense chase, things slow down here. What viewers remember is how content the cat looks, with the packaging standing beside it all along.

What this exercise achieved
Work began on April 9, the first cut came on April 10, and after two rounds of revisions the film was locked on April 13.
It proved one thing: a pet food commercial of twenty-odd seconds can first tell a short animal story and then place the product naturally in the same scene. The same cat, from the opening stalk to the final paw-lick, keeps matching markings and blue eyes, and the product name and illustration on the packaging are clearly legible.
For pet food and pet supply brands, this approach works directly for 15- to 30-second social media ads and e-commerce product videos.
FAQ
FAQ
Was this film commissioned by Legend Sandy?
No. This is a pet food commercial Creative Exercise, using Legend Sandy Pigeon Cat Food as its subject. The aim was a sample to show pet brands; it was never publicly released.
Can an AI pet commercial keep the same cat consistent throughout?
For this film, each key shot started with an approved image, which was then animated. From the opening stalk to the final paw-lick, the cat's leopard spots and blue eyes stay consistent, as do the forest's golden sunlight and mossy ground.
How long does an AI commercial of 20-odd seconds take?
This exercise began on April 9, 2026, with a first cut on April 10. We then adjusted two shots in the chase and removed a line of selling-point copy at the end, locking the film on April 13. The final cut is about 24 seconds at 1920×1080.
Can product packaging be shown clearly in AI imagery?
Yes. The packaging and bowl had their own approved images, so the “Bird Hunter Pigeon” product name and the bird illustration on the packaging are legible; the shot moves from soft to sharp, slowly focusing on the packaging from behind the grass.
Approach
Built around the animal, the setting and the product
The script broke the hunting posture, the chase, discovering the product, sniffing and eating into short shots, and planned where the animal, grass, bowl and packaging sit in each section. The shot with the pigeon is also set in the same forest, and every shot shares the same golden sunlight and green vegetation.
The pace is carried by camera angles and sound: the chase cuts back and forth between several angles, with sound rising and falling along with it. The ending leaves only the cat, the packaging and the theme line, keeping the picture clean.
