City & TourismCity-of-the-Future Concept Film
From an AI hand touching an energy eco-park to underwater cleaning and a green city sand table, a series of spatial wonders shows how technology, life and ecology relate.
01 / Background
This city promo short of about 42 seconds has the theme “AI Empowering Green Urban Development.” Its content spans transport, micro-agriculture, environmental management and public participation, and the creative focus was linking them into a city journey viewers can keep up with.
The opening skips pollution and goes straight into the green city. The film opens with a transparent AI hand lighting up the energy eco-park, followed by green transport, a rooftop farm, balcony gardening and underwater robots, and ends by moving from real city scenes into a digital sand table.
02 / Creative Highlights
A giant palm and the energy eco-park, one huge and one small: as a green curtain of light disperses, the building is revealed. The opening grabs attention and turns “empowering” into a visible action.
Public transport, a rooftop farm and a home balcony appear one after another, and the same green light strips, greenery and drones connect public spaces with daily life. Even as the scenes change, viewers always know what they're looking at.
A cleaning robot dives from the surface into the water, and the camera follows it all the way down to the lakebed. One continuous action makes clear where it works, which is easier to grasp than showing the machine on its own.
The camera skims over the treetops into a glowing city model, where a floating globe and miniature buildings form the closing spectacle, before pulling back to a management center. The real forest and the digital world connect in one sequence.
03 / Scene Breakdown
A giant transparent hand descends from the sky, green data rain sweeps across the sand, and the Longgang Energy Eco-Park is revealed; right after comes a wide road with green buses and cyclists.

The palm presses gently down, a green curtain of light sweeps from top to bottom, and the red ring-shaped energy eco-park appears amid the forested hills, with the caption “AI Empowerment, Green Development.”

A bus marked “AI + Green Transport” drives up, people cycle along the roadside and drones fly overhead, with the caption “Smart transport, low-carbon travel.”
The camera flies from the front of a building at Shenzhen International Low Carbon City up to the roof, revealing a sky farm growing vegetables; then it drops to a family's balcony, and finally arrives at a smart recycling station in a residential community.

First a building with a “Shenzhen International Low Carbon City” sign on its roof, then the camera flies up past the eaves to a roof lined with rows of planters lit by green light strips.

A man waters plants on a balcony full of greenery, solar panels beside him, as a drone carrying a cardboard box flies up outside the balcony, with the caption “Even sunlight becomes clean energy.”

A young person drops trash into a recycling station topped with solar panels and a small wind turbine, its screen reading “AI auto-sorting, circular economy.”
A cleaning robot glides across the lake and dives into the water; next comes a small stream, where a few children crouch on the bank painting while others run on the grass.

A white-and-blue robot moves out from the lettered embankment on the shore, and the camera follows it down into the clear lake water, with the caption “Underwater smart cleaning robots: over 90% cleaning coverage.”

The easel shows the very stream in front of them, while in the distance a few children chase each other across the grass, with the caption “Children drawing the future through environmental care.”
Business representatives talk in front of a giant forest screen; then the camera rises up along a facade covered in greenery, revealing a green tower topped with solar panels.

A row of guests sits on stage in discussion, the screen behind them showing a forest in sunlight, with a full audience below.

The camera rises up from a flowering facade, and a building planted level after level appears in the middle of the city, with a few drones flying alongside and the caption “Advancing development together.”
The camera races low over a vast canopy and dives into a glowing city model with a globe hanging above; finally it pulls back to reveal a smart city sand table in a laboratory.

Starting from woods at the edge of the city, the camera flies faster and faster until the canopy stretches into a blur of green, with the caption “Let's use AI together to empower a green future.”

At the end of the woods is a glowing city sand table covered with tiny buildings and trees, with a globe slowly turning above it.

The camera pulls back to a large screen reading “AI Empowering Green Urban Development,” as researchers in white coats record data beside the sand table.
04 / Storyboards & Final Frames
In the order of the final film: each shot first describes what it shows, followed by the final image used in the film.
Shot 1.1
A transparent data hand reaches toward the Longgang Energy Eco-Park, with no text or extra halos added to the building, so the eco-park itself stays clearly visible.
Shot 1.2
New-energy buses, cyclists and drones overhead share the same road to tell the story of smart transport.
Shot 2.1
Built on the Low Carbon City's real buildings, with the rooftop sign kept; from here, the camera flies up to the roof.
Shot 2.2
The roof is filled with planters of varying heights, edged with green light strips that echo the green tech lines throughout the film.
Shot 2.3
A man tends plants on his balcony, with solar panels beside him, just as a drone delivers a parcel.
Shot 2.4
An all-in-one recycling station topped with solar panels and a small wind turbine, with someone dropping off trash.
Shot 3.1
Modeled on the real Shenxian Lake in Shenzhen, with the green lettered embankment on the shore. The two final frames show the surface and the moment after it enters the water.
Shot 3.2
A few children crouch by the stream sketching it from life, while others run across the grass.
Shot 4.1
The line “Businesses sharing responsibility” is paired with a live business forum, its stage backdrop a whole forest. This image is taken from the final film.
Shot 4.2
A tower planted level after level and topped with solar panels; the camera rises all the way up the facade to get here.
Shot 5.1
The glowing city model the camera enters after passing through the canopy, with the globe hanging above.
Shot 5.2
The wide shot after pulling back: a large screen reads “AI Empowering Green Urban Development,” and researchers work around the sand table.
05 / Script Excerpts
06 / Results
The final film links several green city scenes into a visual journey of about 42 seconds, combining grand city spectacle with instantly understandable actions like planting, sorting trash and cleaning.
City themes like this can turn abstract policy language into images built from “a real place + a person's action + a technological change,” keeping the short clear and easy to follow.
Case Study
Transport, rooftop farming, balcony solar, waste recycling, water management, youth education, corporate responsibility... this film had about ten topics to cover in just 42 seconds.
Instead of reading them out to viewers one by one, we gave each topic a person and an action, then opened with an AI hand and closed with a city sand table, linking them into a single flight.
This is our work for the Publicity Department of the CPC Longgang District Committee, Shenzhen, the fourth film in the Longgang series, on the theme “AI Empowering Green Urban Development.”
01
The earliest script was “bad first, then good”: an ancient scroll unrolls to show a grey, smoggy city and a cracked globe, followed by chimneys belching black smoke, collapsing glaciers and people struggling through a desert, with AI appearing only after a dozen or so seconds.
With only 42 seconds, the revision cut this whole setup and kept just one action for the opening: a giant transparent hand presses down from the sky, a green curtain of light sweeps across the sand, and the Longgang Energy Eco-Park appears amid the forested hills. From the first second, viewers know this is a film about “AI making the city green.” At the moment the palm lands, no “AI” text or extra halos are added to the building, so the eco-park itself stays clearly visible.
02
Green city imagery easily ends up looking generic. We grounded each topic in a real place in Longgang: the opening is the energy eco-park's red ring-shaped building, the rooftop farm shot flies up from the signposted Shenzhen International Low Carbon City building, and the underwater robot is placed in Shenxian Lake, with the green lettered embankment on the shore modeled on the real scene.
The underwater robot shot was also revised once. The earliest robot looked like a small boat that just floated on the surface; the final version uses a white-and-blue robot that looks more like cleaning equipment, and the camera follows it from the surface down underwater, giving “cleaning” a concrete action.

The camera follows the robot into the water, which is clear all the way to the bottom, and the caption gives “over 90% cleaning coverage.”
03
With about ten topics packed into 42 seconds, each gets only three or four seconds. Our solution was to have someone doing something in every shot: a man waters plants on his balcony just as a drone delivers a parcel; someone drops off trash at the recycling station; children by the stream sketch it from life. The actions are instantly clear, so the captions only need to add one line.
The line “Businesses sharing responsibility” was first paired with a close-up of a smiling girl, which didn't match the caption. We replaced it with a live business forum: a discussion in front of a giant forest screen. No specific conference name appears on stage, because the film is used at more than one event.

Three things in one shot: houseplants, balcony solar panels and a drone delivering a parcel.
04
The second half of the film had to move from “what's happening in the city” to “AI managing it all behind the scenes.” We connected them with one continuous move: the camera rises from the green tower, skims the canopy faster and faster, and dives into a glowing city sand table with a globe hanging above; then it pulls back to reveal a laboratory, where researchers are working around the sand table.
Real woods, a digital model and people doing research join into one shot in ten seconds, also gathering the ten green scenes before it into the single line “AI Empowering Green Urban Development.”

Speed stretches the canopy into a blur of green, and when the camera breaks through it is already above the city model.
05
A list packed with policy topics became a 42-second city short you can watch in one go: a hand at the start, ten scenes of people doing things in the middle, and a sand table at the end. Every place is recognizably Longgang, and every topic has an action anyone can understand.
For the client, a film like this can play at low-carbon themed events and also work in everyday city promotion; for viewers, what sticks isn't a slogan but the drone at the balcony, the robot diving into the lake and the children sketching by the stream.
FAQ
Give each topic a person and an action, and let the caption add just one line. This 42-second film covers transport, rooftop farming, balcony solar, waste recycling, water management, youth education and corporate responsibility, among other topics, with three or four seconds per shot, told through instantly clear actions like watering plants, dropping off trash, a robot diving and sketching by a stream.
By generating from real photos. The Longgang Energy Eco-Park, the Shenzhen International Low Carbon City building and Shenxian Lake in the film all reference real scenes, keeping the building shapes, rooftop sign and lettered embankment, then adding green tech lines and futuristic facilities.
No. An AI short is made shot by shot, so only the shot being changed is redone. Before this film was finalized, “Businesses sharing responsibility” was changed from a character close-up to a business forum, and the boat-shaped robot on the surface was replaced with a cleaning robot that can dive underwater, while all other shots stayed the same.
Approach
When setting the images, we first made sure viewers could recognize where they were: the energy eco-park and the Low Carbon City had to stand out in the composition, and the underwater robot was also designed with reference to the real scene, before adding tech lines and a futuristic feel.
For motion, we broke it down action by action: one tap of the palm and the building appears; the robot dives from the surface; the camera moves from the green city into a holographic sand table. First and last frames set the direction of movement, making it easier to connect the space between shots.
In the full-film check, we unified the frame format, made sure every shot was sharp, kept the drones' design and movement consistent throughout, and left no unnecessary scene text in the image. The information is carried by the narration and the green imagery together.
